About the Film Festival

The Festival began as just an idea. A group of film-making friends wished that they had an outlet to share their work with others beyond their circle of friends and family. We thought that a local film festival would be ideal, but at that time, there was no such thing...

However, we just so happened to have two very encouraging mentors who thought a local film festival was a great idea. After all, we had already organized other events on their own, why not a film festival too? With the support of friends, employers and a vibrant arts community, the idea of the Dawson Creek Film Festival was born!

The Dawson Creek Film Festival is meant to be a venue for local talent and film makers to share their work with a larger audience and the community.

Where & When

For our first Festival, we want to start small to see what kind of interest we generate, which is why we chose a "smaller" venue, the Dawson Creek Art Gallery. The Festival will held on June 27th, 2009 at 9PM at Albert's Loft on the Mattson's Farm, one mile west of Rolla, BC after the showing of Nellie Wild's Blockade. You can get directions to the venue here.

Blockade has a $10 admission, but The Dawson Creek Film Festival is free but with encouraged optional donation towards the South Peace Community Arts Council.
